Winter

I’m in heaven! I love winter! I like living in Queensland but I miss the seasonal changes.

Last night, a freezing cold wind blew up and temperatures plummeted at dusk. I turned the heater on, went to bed with socks on my feet and curled up under a doona (duvet), listening to the howling wind, and the building creaking and groaning because of its age. Rather like me , I thought, after a busy day’s work. We had a murder mystery function too yesterday, which was a bit of fun, and I’m not used to running up and down stairs all day and being on my feet.

Getting up this morning was so difficult but I dragged myself to the shower and raced downstairs to start breakfast. For those that don’t know, I’m working in a boutique hotel in the beautiful Blue Mountains. We had a full house last night so I had to work at the speed of light … great way to warm up.

I’m told it was 2 degrees this morning, but when breakfast was over, I shuffled through the autumn leaves and had some tea and toast in a patch of sun in the garden. Can’t wait till it snows!
