So Gonzalo kindly showed me which platform to go to and I boarded the train to Madrid for the long journey into France. He had bought me a window seat and I sat in the train staring at the mountains I had previously climbed on the Via de la Plata. They are huge. We passed through many towns that I had walked through and I was filled with desire to just get off the train. I long to climb them again!
I was entertained all the way along by an English group who were doing the Camino by train! I had to bite my tongue when I noticed them all wearing Camino T shirts and Jewellery, but was pleasantly distracted by the incredibly handsome and very charming coffee man.
I slept for two hours and then actually found my way to the right platform for the airport, in the company of a lovely Danish guy I met as I got off the train.
Colleen and Gerry were there in Bordeaux to meet me and I am now installed for a week or so in their beautiful country house with the most amazing view. It feels like only yesterday since we last saw each other – a lovely friendship that was born on the Camino Frances a few years ago. Today Colleen took me for a drive. We went through Sarlat (one of my most favourite places on earth) and then visited Richard the Lionheart’s castle in Beynac. It poured with rain but we had a great time.
Nothing funny happened today but it is nice to just relax. I realize how tired I am after walking and partying a bit too much, so it’s nice to just stop in one place for a while and rest. I so love this part of France!
Bonjour..bon repos..bonne vacances …bisous a colleen et Gerry
