A Wander Around Town

I’ve been working on final travel plans for my group so I don’t have much to tell right now. One exciting thing, (for pilgrims) is that Pilgrim House, a drop in and welcome centre, is now allowed to hang a sign so people can find it. If you have never been in there, you are missing out on a wonderful experience. You can sit and relax, chat to other pilgrims, get tickets etc printed out, use their computers, get your laundry done, use the kitchen and bathroom facilities, do some art, sit in the quiet room or out on the patio, get advice or join in the de-brief session at 4.00. Such a fabulous space, and so friendly!

Today I met with my friend Jen from Sydney. She found love on the camino and now lives in Barcelona with her husband Quim, and they run a business helping people walk the camino.

We had a wonderful time chatting in a cafe for ages and then we wandered the streets. I’m good at making other people spend money…Jen ended up with a hoard of yummy chocolates and a beautiful necklace!

Im compiling a list of unusual things that have caught my attention in Spain. For example, it is common to see coins resting on the craggy bits of stone walls in restaurants. I’m not sure when or how this started but what else do you do with one cent coins? maybe I’ll make it a separate post🤔

To finish, I’ll just add some random photos I took on a walk around town tonight, as I pondered the fate of my group trip that starts next week. We are travelling through Portugal but it is ablaze at the moment and it seems a little dangerous. Hopefully it will be under control soon!
