A Camino Blessing

One of my oldest friends, a friend from school, gave me a small rock to carry on this Camino for her daughter who is unwell and going through a particularly bad time. It is beautifully wrapped and tied with string and placed in a brown velvet pouch.

I have carried it carefully in the top of my pack, aware of the love it holds, and I’m hoping it will absorb the energy of the Camino, so I can bring healing home with me.

Last night, whilst staying at a monastery, I took the stone with me and went to mass. I am not Catholic and I had no idea what was going on because it was all in Spanish, but I sat there and said a prayer for beautiful Jess. Afterwards, the priest came over to give us a personal pilgrim blessing. I gave him the stone and he held it so gently in the palm of his left hand. He placed his right hand softly over the top and closed his eyes, saying a prayer. It was so heartfelt and I was reduced to a sobbing mess. He held my hand as he gave the stone back to me and the look in his eyes was so compassionate. I left crying like a baby. Such a powerful moment! Such is the power of the Camino!💜💜💜

Get well soon Jessie
